LEADERSHIP AND VISION

As the one InCharge, what are some of your roles in your company that are not visible in the eyes of the people?

“A lot of people know that I am an entrepreneur-lawyer, but many do not realize that beyond being a managing partner, I am also a mentor and a life coach. I strongly advocate the transfer and sharing of knowledge and experience among our lawyers. Our collective duty is to ensure that our employees learn the best practices we have encountered both inside and outside the Firm. By sharing lessons, we strengthen rapport and enhance the personal, behavioral, and professional attributes of our lawyers and staff.

As a mentor, my role is to impart the knowledge I have gained throughout my career to inspire new lawyers as they navigate their professional paths.

As a life coach, I emphasize the value of problem-solving in work, family, and personal relationships, always keeping God at the center. I encourage innovative solutions to challenges, reminding our employees that every issue has a solution—we just need to pause, reflect, pray, and find the appropriate answer.

Being InCharge, are there other activities that have not been executed yet?

In addition to managing the law office, I am also involved in a homeschool and recruitment companies. This requires me to execute and monitor various activities. Managing a law firm alongside businesses in education, maritime, and overseas deployment is indeed challenging. However, I adopt a common culture across all these entities—we operate as a family. Every policy we implement fosters relationships, camaraderie, and teamwork, collectively building blocks toward organizational success.

The difference between private practice and public service: Do you think you will have that calling in the future?

Throughout my career, I have always been in private practice, so I cannot compare private and public service from personal experience. However, I can say that private practice is both challenging and rewarding. The hurdles I have encountered have molded me and my law firm into what we are today. We continue to learn, mature, and grow, with a commitment to educating ourselves daily and pushing one another forward.

Whether in private or public practice, a lawyer’s sworn duty remains paramount and serves as a guiding principle. When I set out on my career, I planned to harness my legal skills and develop my network in the private sector. This foundation ensures that if called to public service, I am ready to make a meaningful impact.

Studying at a premier state university instilled in me a desire to serve and give back to the community. Even in my private capacity, I engage in small projects through socio-civic organizations to help our countrymen.

BALANCING FAMILY AND WORK

Being InCharge takes a lot of your time. How do you make it up to your family?

I take pride in fostering a family-oriented culture in my law firm and businesses. I advocate for a healthy work-life balance, reminding employees to complete tasks during weekdays so they can spend weekends with their families. Attending school activities, such as family days, is something I encourage because it means a lot to their children.

For myself, I make a conscious effort to spend time with my family. Part of my daily routine is bringing my daughter to school every morning. Holidays and long weekends are opportunities to travel together. Maintaining a balance between family and work not only increases happiness but also rejuvenates energy and motivation.

What are your hobbies that help you as a leader?

I enjoy playing basketball because it reinforces teamwork and leadership skills, teaching me how to collaborate effectively to achieve positive outcomes. I also have a deep interest in history. Understanding the past provides wisdom and valuable lessons from the experiences of our ancestors and nation-builders.

Health is wealth, especially when you’re InCharge. How do you maintain a healthy lifestyle?

The pandemic served as a wake-up call for me to adopt healthier habits. I became more mindful of my diet, reducing food intake and avoiding unhealthy options. I also incorporate exercise, such as running and playing basketball, into my routine to stay fit.

INSPIRATION AND LEGACY

What is your ultimate goal in life?

My goal is simple: to have a happy family living comfortably. To achieve this, I focus on building a stable foundation that supports my family’s desires and aspirations.

Your favorite phrase?

“Focus on the objective, not on the obstacles.”

When you were young, was being a lawyer your dream?

No, I initially wanted to become an engineer because I loved the idea of building bridges, structures, and communities. I envisioned creating orderly cities where people could live comfortably. It wasn’t until high school graduation that my plans changed, and I pursued my mother’s dream of having a lawyer in the family.
